For a typical domestic property, expect the assessor to be with you for 30 to 60 minutes. A studio or one bedroom flat is often closer to 25 minutes, a large detached house with extensions can run beyond an hour.
Turnaround for the certificate
The visit is only part of it. The data is then run through approved software and lodged to the national register. We aim to lodge the same working day, and you normally receive the certificate within 24 hours.
Commercial timings
SBEM assessments take longer, both on site and in modelling. A small retail unit may take an hour, a multi zone office considerably more.
How to make it faster
- Ensure the loft hatch is accessible.
- Clear access to the boiler and hot water cylinder.
- Have documentation ready for insulation, glazing or boiler upgrades.
- Make sure every room can be entered and measured.
